Original german Death Cards from WW1 and WW2

Death cards are single or folded notes that list the most important life information about the deceased and are generally distributed to mourners during a memorial service. This custom was widespread throughout Catholic Europe and is still today practiced in some areas. In many areas after 1875, an original photograph was added to the text. In a broader sense, death cards are also death notices that were once distributed in a town or sent by post. Their purpose, as is similar today, is not only to inform the family, friends, acquaintances, and the public in general about the passing of a particular person, but also to ask for remembrance of the deceased in pray.
